Math is as Math Does

Is Math a Language? No? Yes? Both? And?

Maybe I misunderstood, yet it seemed that I was confused to hear this even raised as a question on a recent Theories of Everything podcast.

Seems Obvious (Famous Last Words)

Whether or not math is accepted as a formal language, mathematics is most certainly a symbolic system, uniquely capable of grappling with the mechanisms of action of both symbolic and non-symbolic systems. Not least of all, through the intuition, insight, and innovation of the imaginary unit signifier, i.

The further perception, conception, and measurement of increasingly subtle energies, interactions, and process over the past century have expanded both mathematical and physics vocabularies, required for describing and working with newly encountered symbolic and non-symbolic (Bohm’s implicate order) structures, processes, and phenomena. Since Bohm’s insight, the scientific community has illuminated a great deal more understanding about the nature, characteristics, and phenomenology active near the event horizon between symbolic and non-symbolic domains; which Stephen Wolfram might describe in terms of the ruliad. Whether or not the ruliad supersedes and includes both symbolic and non-symbolic domains is a question that perhaps only Stephen himself can clarify.

My own intuition is no, because it seems to me that ∃ (there exists) non-computational energies, or pre-computational fields which are in some way entirely transcendent of our familiar rulial existence; regardless of how impressively intricate the computational irreducibility of Worlds Like Ours are perceived by Observers Like Us.

I could, of course, be wrong.

The Irritating Necessity of Neologization

It further seems a dreadfully unfortunate characteristic of humanity that human explorers of the myriad Event Horizons of human understanding are often not only misunderstood, but dismissed, demeaned, mocked, scorned, and ostracized by their own fellow human beings; many of whom seem to have not made much progress as biological organisms that were manufactured in compliance with some 8-4 million year old original factory default settings. Seems sad that so many specimens of our species, who are later deemed as among the most valuable, in retrospect, are literally tortured during their brief time on earth. Alas, this seems to be a behavior that has continued to assert itself, even as we approach the year 2033 — the 2,000th year since perhaps the most pointless and vicious example of this tendency. But I digress.

Apparently, Worlds Like Ours are (to some non-trivial extent) Made Up As We Go

In Something Strange Happens When You Trust Quantum Mechanics, Casper Mebius explains a pivotal point of Plank’s work, “and most importantly, he had no clue what this ‘h’ represented. I mean, he had introduced a new physical constant without any reason.” Later, Derek Muller narrates, “Light came into the darkness, and a new undreamed of perspective opened up before me.” Steven Strogatz continues, “He introduces what we now call Planck’s constant, and it has the units of action. Planck’s constant, h, is a quantum of action.” Later in the same video, “for no good reason, (Bohr) says, let me say the electron can only be in 1, 2 , 3 units of the quantity, h. This comes out of nowhere.”

When we dig deeper into the history scientific discovery, we find that most of, in not all the greatest contributions to hard-nosed, trust the data science emerged by similar intuitive insights; often dramatically incomplete at the moment of realization. That moment of realization is, arguably, the most valuable kind of contribution that any human being can make to the betterment of one’s contemporaries and progeny. As Bill Hicks says, “and we … KILL THOSE PEOPLE.”

Why is that, humans? Why is that?

Take, for example Eric Weinstein’s SHIAB operator …
